Your mind is constantly going, and what you feed your mind through ideas, thoughts, and media (music, t.v., social media) becomes your words and actions. Your frame of mind has a huge impact on how you see the world and how the world sees you. It also determines what you’re going to achieve. You can talk yourself out of “situations” or into “situations.” The choice is definitely yours.

There are two specific mind sets – fixed and growth. A fixed mindset is one who settles for mediocrity, complacency and stays stagnant; whereas, a growth mindset welcomes challenges, opportunities, tries new things, and takes constructive criticism and runs with it. Which one are you?

You can develop a growth mindset by following a few easy steps:

1. Learn to hear your own voice; we talk to ourselves constantly throughout the day. The mind honestly never shuts up. When you recognize negative self talk, you have the power to stop it and change it. For example, if you’re thinking, I’ve had a terrible day at work and I really don’t feel like going to the gym. Recognize the negative self talk and change your thought process—I’ve had a terrible day at work and I know how much better I will feel once I hit the gym or, the day wasn’t that great but at least when I get to the gym I’ll feel a whole lot better. Also, recognize the people and things that make you a better person and keep those around you.
2. Recognize that you have a choice as to how you interpret and respond to challenges, setbacks and change. You are a product of the beliefs you hold. Sometimes you gotta let go of the beliefs that are holding you back.
3. Talk back to your mindset and take action. Sometimes you have to tell your mind to shut the f___ up! Visualize your goals, write them down, and speak them into existence. It truly works!

You may not be able to control your external forces but you can control how you respond to them. Remember that life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond to it. When you consistently work towards your goals, you create a positive energy flow that spills into all areas of your life.
